The “Pozzo di Gaspare” agricultural company is located in Piana di Catania in the Motta S. Anastasia territory - an ancient village developed along a high basaltic cliff – where, from 1070 to 1074, Roger I “The Norman” had the castle built then transformed into a prison - still the town’s bulwark today.
The company extends across a territory of more than 42 hectares, and has been managed directly by the current owners for 66 years.
The name comes from a still-existent and functional well, that was dug by hand at the end of the 1700s to nourish the adjacent 1700s manor farm. The well is 20 meters deep and has two, 18-meter tunnels – both hand-dug and underpinned with lava rock. A small work of art which carries the name of its master builder: “Pozzo di Gaspare (Gaspare’s Well)”.
Blood orange - Pozzo di Gaspare
The blood orange is achieved thanks to the elevated thermal excursions present in the production area, which determine the accumulation of “anthocyanins” (pigments that give the pulp its characteristic red colour and unique flavour).

Bees produce Zagara (orange flower) honey during the blossoming of our citrus grove (April and May).

Extra-virgin Olive Oil - Pozzo di Gaspare
The extra-virgin olive oil which is produced, is obtained from olives of the “Novellare Etnea” variety olives, mixed with a small quantity of “Moresca” variety olives.
